About Us

Furlanthropy is a registered 501c3 charity inspired by the true story of a dog named Hazelnut.

Not only did Hazelnut rescue my heart – she is inspiring a movement to bring financial hope to pets everywhere."  - Adam Spencer, Founder & President

As a (CFRE) Certified Fund-Raising Executive for many years, Adam knew there needed to be a solution to help remove the financial barriers to access to veterinary care; so he created Furlanthropy; the first and only charity-owned-and-operated crowdfunding platform.

Furlanthropy was created by two fundraising executives and a veterinarian.

Co-Founder Adam Spencer and I have been fundraising colleagues and friends for nearly 15 years. We share a commitment to ethical fundraising and a passion for helping others—qualities reflected throughout Furlanthropy. We started Furlanthropy to not only help pets, pet parents, and veterinary professionals but also to provide donors a secure place to express philanthropy in animal-welfare.

What makes Furlanthropy truly innovative is the integrity it brings to charitable crowdfunding. Traditional crowdfunding platforms often provide little oversight, leaving donors and vulnerable families exposed to fraud and misuse. Furlanthropy adds verification and accountability to the process by confirming the legitimacy of each fundraising request and directing funds toward verified veterinary needs.

Furlanthropy offers tax-advantaged ways to give while providing the confidence that each gift will be used for a legitimate veterinary-care need. Our thoughtful model protects donors, supports veterinary professionals, and gives families hope when they need it most.

"As veterinary professionals, we are two to three times more likely to experience mental health distress than the average person. Furlanthropy is a way to alleviate the financial burdens and save pets lives, thus being a resource of hope in the challenging culture we face daily." - Dr. Stewardt, DVM, Co-Founder of Furlanthropy
